Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church
The design of Christ Our Redeemer uses dramatic curvilinear forms that recall shapes familiar to this waterfront community: sails, waves, and the seaside. The structure is expressed, not hidden, in a forceful manner, suggesting strength and resistance to storms and a “permanence” of the church. The new church seats about 750 people with a small prayer chapel directly behind the altar. Additional support spaces include a gathering narthex space, a sacristy, a bride’s room, and a choir.
The interior steel frame was exposed and LED strip lights were used to reflect shelving layout below. Polished concrete floors were used in the show room and sharp edges define the service counters and demonstration kitchen. A conference room and offices were placed along the west elevation and furnishing retain the contemporary themed interior design.
