Voices of Pensacola

This is a project that tells the stories about the making of Pensacola and the diversity of its people, both past and present. The design was influenced by the concept of reflectivity and the materials use highlights the distinction, yet similarity of Pensacola’s past and present. The ground level exhibit space includes both printed and digital display sets within a series of “time passages”. A new sliding wall was used to create space for changing messages placed by visitors. Existing structure was exposed including wood floor joists and heavy timber columns and center beam. Exterior masonry walls were retained and a new vertical edge grain pine floor was installed.
